A study on the insecticide resistance and management of Musca domestica in Hubei province

【Abstract】 Objective To learn the resistance situation of Musca domestica from different areas in Hubei province to common insecticides and study its control measures.  Methods Topical application was used in this study.  Results The surveillance results indicated the average LD50 values of DDVP to housefly from different areas was 0.2256, 0.1908 and 0.4428 μg/housefly from 2005 to 2007, respectively. The average LD50 of alpha?cypermethrin was 0.0841 and 0.1102 μg/housefly in 2006 and 2007, respectively. The average LD50 of deltamethrin was 0.0371 and 0.0825 μg/housefly in 2005 and 2007, respectively. The average LD50 of etramethrin in 2005 and 2006 was 0.3952 and 0.2894 μg/housefly, respectively. The average LD50 of acetophenate in 2005 and 2007 was 0.3264 and 0. 3487 μg/housefly. Conclusion M.domestica had high resistance to organic phosphorus and pyrethrum insecticide in Hubei province. No obvious resistance against acetophenate had been found. The mixed and rotation use of insecticides contributed to the control the resistance development of M.domestica.

Study on the resistant of Rattus norvegicus to anticoagulant rodenticide in Qichun county,Hubei province

Objective To study the resistant development of Rattus norvegicus to anticoagulant rodenticide after its application in Qichun county.Methods The resistance of R.norvegicus was tested according to the method established by Rodenticide-resistance Monitoring Cooperation Group of China.Results The resistance of R.norvegicus was detected in 1990,1995,2000,2002,2005 and 2007,respectively.There were 208 rodents tested,and only one rodent survived in each of three times resistance monitoring.Whether the test rodent were male or female,the minimum and maximum average lethal dosages in 2000-2008 resistance monitoring was all lower than that in 1995.But the average lethal time postponed a little compared to that in 1990.Conclusion After the application of anticoagulant rodenticide for 23 years in Qichun, R.norvegicus was still highly susceptible to the first-generation anticoagulant rodenticides,and its tolerance capability was lower than that of R.tanezumi and Mus musculus.Therefore,the anticoagulant rodenticides could be still used to kill R.norvegicus.
Comparison of Anticoagulant Rodenticide Resistance and Effect to Commensal Rodent

Objective:To study the resistance and different effect of anticoaglant rodenticide.Methods:Tests of optional and nonoptional taking food.Results:Resistance of three commensal rodent species was not difference for the ten years in Qichun.However,average rate lethal dose of pure drug to tested rodent was obvious drop,average lethal dates were prolong.Killed rate of four anticoagalant rodenticides to Rattus norvegicus was up to 91%,Taking food coefficient at single coop and crovd fence for coumatetralyl were 0.85 and 1.58 respectively;for Bromodiolone were 0.76 and 0.69 respectively,for warfarin were 0.38 and 0.31,for Diphacine Sodium Sait were 0.35 and 0.25.Conclusion:Two tests of anticoagalant shewed that the anticogalant susceptibility for the three species commensal rodent was high in Qichun,and resistance was not happened.The killed rate of the four rodenticide to Rattus norvegicus was high,and the palatable taste of coumatetpalyl was the best in the four species rodicide.
The Field Trials of Brodifacoum against Commensal Rodents

The rice bait of 0.005% Brodifacoum was used in the field trials with single baiting,once baiting for two days or pulse baiting for five days.The population decline rates were89.27%, 98.11 % or 99.14 % respectively.The efficiency with single baiting was significantly lowerthan the latters.It indicated that the Brodifacoum had good palatability,safety and good efficiencyto commensal rodents in the field condition.The method with once baiting for two days was suggested to be popularizing in large scale rodent control,in order to achieve a good result.
Results and Analyses for the Eight-Year Rodent Infestation Monitoring in HuBei Province

The results and analyses of the rodent infestation monitoring of domestic or field rodents for the eight-year in the area just outside a city in HuBei indicated that the domestic rodent of the area just outside a city consisted of Rattus norvegicus, R. flavipectus and Mus musculus mainly; Apodemus agrarius and R. losea secondly. The composition-rate of R.n. in the area just outside a city was higher than that of the country, but the proportion of the R.f. in the area just outside a city have been reduced year by year. The proportion of M. m. was increasing. The domestic rodent was different from the field one in the country and city. The population density of the domestic rodent in the country was obviously higher than that in the area just outside a city. The general-trend of the population density of the rodent:domestic-rodent has been reducing obviously. The other results were also reported in the paper.
Selective Tests of Rattus norvegicus on the Single or Composite Attractants

With saccharin,salt,vinegar and wine for the lure reagent,single or several kinds of them were used in making the rice poison baits of diphacine-Na,and Rattus norvegicus were used in the selective tests.The results were as follows.The consumption of R.n.on the poison baits of the single type attractant was the most with wine,seeond with saccharin.There were significant differencs P<0.01),comparing with the food breeding index of the pure rice poison bait.But the food breeding indexes of the poison baits with sodium chloride or vinegar were less than that of the pure rice poison bait.Of the composite attractants,the poison bait with saccharine, salt and wine obtained the best acceptability,and other three kinds of composite attractants could not increase the consumption.It also showed that the lure of the salty was not very strong and the acidity could decrease the taste of the poison bait for R.n.
